Why Dayjobstudio Exists
Dayjobstudio is an independent site about comic books, written for readers who fit their hobby around everything else in life. It is for people who pick up a few issues between shifts, catch up on a long-running series in the evenings, or want to know where to start with a character they only know from the screen.
Three shelves to browse
Articles are sorted into three areas. Each one is meant to be useful on its own, and each one points to the others when a story crosses over.
- Marvel looks at the publisher’s heroes, teams and big storylines, with a focus on reading orders, good entry points and what a run is actually like to read.
- DC covers its icons, its sprawling continuity and its collected editions, and tries to make that history easier to approach.
- Other Comics is for everything outside those two publishers: independent series, creator-owned books, graphic novels and translated work that deserves more attention.
How the pieces are put together
The goal is practical guidance a reader can act on. Release details, creative credits and story facts are checked against the publishers’ own announcements, the books themselves and established reference sources. When a point is a matter of taste, the article presents it as opinion and does not dress it up as fact.
Comics move quickly. Series are relaunched, collections are reissued and continuity gets rewritten, so pages are revisited and updated when something changes.
Who we write for
Some readers are brand new and want a clear first step. Others have long collections and want a second opinion on a single run or an overlooked title. Nothing here assumes a big budget, a nearby comic shop or encyclopedic knowledge.
